Love Stronger Than Loss

Image
Shi Bao’s life was shattered in an instant. A tragic accident took her hind legs, her balance, and any easy future she might have known. Left on the streets, injured and alone, she should not have survived—yet she did. And not just for herself. Even without her back legs, Shi Bao became a mother. She learned to balance on her front legs, dragging her small body forward, never leaving her puppies behind. Each step was pain. Each day was a struggle. But her devotion never wavered. She fed them, protected them, and stayed with them through heat, hunger, and fear. What she lacked in strength, she made up for in love. People who saw her were stunned. Not by tragedy—but by courage. Shi Bao showed that motherhood doesn’t disappear with loss, and that a broken body can still hold an unbreakable heart. Just in time, a British animal charity intervened. Shi Bao and her litter were rescued from the streets and given safety, care, and warmth. Her puppies are now thriving, and Shi Bao is ...

Polino’s Tough Day Ends In Tears

Image
It was a hot, restless afternoon in the forest. Little baby monkey Polino had been full of energy, bouncing around, tugging on leaves, and making a mess of his sleeping area. He didn’t mean to cause trouble — he was just excited, curious, and playful. But his mother had already been stressed. The group had moved locations that morning, food was scarce, and she was tired. When Polino knocked over her water leaf and spilled the last bit of clean water she had saved, her patience ran out. She let out a sharp sound and grabbed Polino by the arm. In her frustration, she gave him several quick slaps — not to hurt him badly, but enough to make him cry out in surprise and pain. His wide eyes filled with tears. He didn’t understand. He just wanted to play and be close. Polino ran a few steps away and sat under a tree, hugging his knees, his tiny body shaking. His soft cries echoed under the branches. For the first time in a long while, he felt confused, hurt — and very sad. ...

A Mother's Loss, A Baby's Hope: The Wild's Harsh Reality

Image
I try not to see nature as “cruel” or “sad” because those human emotions simply do not apply to the living world. Just about any organism that isn’t a plant or fungus requires some creature’s death in order to sustain their life.

The baby monkey fell into the muddy water.

Image
The baby monkey fell into the muddy water on a warm afternoon deep in the jungle. It had been playing high in the trees, swinging from vine to vine with carefree joy. But as it reached out for a particularly slippery branch, its tiny fingers lost grip. With a sudden cry, it tumbled through the leaves and splashed into a shallow pool of muddy water below. Startled and soaked, the baby monkey sat still for a moment, blinking through the thick mud that clung to its fur. Its little hands rubbed its face, trying to clear the muck from its eyes. Around it, frogs croaked and insects buzzed, but all it could feel was the cold, sticky embrace of the puddle. From the trees above, the other monkeys chattered nervously. One of the older monkeys, likely its mother, scrambled down quickly, her eyes full of concern. She scooped the baby up gently, brushing away the mud with quick, careful movements. Though shaken, the baby clung to her, comforted by her warmth. Soon, the pa...

A Cry for Help: Newborn Monkey's Struggle on the Tree

Image
In the lush canopy of a tropical forest, a vulnerable newborn monkey finds itself in a dire situation. Separated from its mother, the tiny primate clings desperately to a slender tree branch, feeling the chill of fear overwhelm its tiny body. Its high-pitched cry echoes through the dense foliage, a heartbreaking call for help. The young monkey's trembling limbs struggle to maintain their grip, as the fear of falling weighs heavily on its fragile heart. This scene captures the raw emotion of vulnerability and survival. Young monkeys depend heavily on their mothers for protection and guidance in navigating the complex network of branches and leaves. Without immediate assistance, the newborn’s chances of safety diminish rapidly. Its cry signals distress not only to other members of the troop but also to the forest dwellers who may be nearby. Rescue in such situations often relies on the keen senses of the troop’s adults or human intervention if present. The mother’s rea...

It is very pity to see baby monkey stuck between the wall like this

Image
It is truly heartbreaking to see a baby monkey trapped between a wall and a structure. The sight stirs deep feelings of sadness, helplessness, and compassion for such an innocent creature. This vulnerability highlights how fragile animals are and how much they rely on humans to help protect them. A baby monkey, much like a human child, embodies innocence, curiosity, and joy. Yet, when it finds itself caught in a dangerous situation like this, it reveals the harsh realities of urban expansion. As human development encroaches on natural habitats, monkeys and other wildlife are forced into unfamiliar environments filled with man-made barriers. Walls, fences, and structures that seem harmless to us can be life-threatening to animals trying to navigate their surroundings. Witnessing a tiny monkey struggling to escape reminds us of the unintended consequences of urbanization. In the wild, they roam freely, climb trees, and interact within their troop. But as green spaces...

Very bad situation! Alba is heavily attacked by Aron, Tiny Alba is very scare!

Image
It was supposed to be just another quiet afternoon—but suddenly, everything changed for tiny Alba. Without warning, Aron, a much larger and stronger monkey, lashed out. In a burst of aggression, he cornered little Alba and struck her harshly. The attack was quick but frightening, and the fear in Alba’s eyes was impossible to miss. She didn’t fight back—she couldn’t. She froze, her tiny body trembling, eyes wide with confusion and fear. Why was Aron hurting her? What had she done? These are questions even humans would ask—and for baby Alba, the moment felt like pure panic. She tried to run, but Aron blocked her path. She let out tiny cries—desperate, pleading sounds. Finally, one of the older monkeys or a nearby caretaker stepped in and pulled her away to safety. Little Alba was shaken. She clung to a familiar figure, her tiny arms wrapped tightly around the one place she felt secure. Her breathing slowed, but her heart was still racing. The fear, the ...

Close call as buffalo charges lion cub

Image
We've said it before and we'll say it again; it's a tough life for lions in the wild, even if they are the kings of the jungle. Even when the small and vulnerable cubs have grown into mighty lions, they are faced with having to fight for their food, and for their territory. Right from the start, lions, just like all the other members of the wild, have to fight to survive. Yesterday, guests at Africa on Foot bore witness to this concept when the two Ross Breakaway lionesses + cubs endured a stand off with a couple of buffalo. At just over a month old, these two cubs are still very small and they are carried from place to place by their mother. When we saw one of the little fur balls run, panicked, out of its hiding place, we realised just how tiny they are. Watch the video and see one cub narrowly escape from an angry buffalo by running into the open in front of the game viewer. Both lionesses and the cubs stood their ground as the buffaloes looked uneasily...

First Day Lion Cubs Walk on the Road with Mother

Image
In a remarkable and tender moment in the wild, lion cubs experience one of their first adventurous steps as they walk on the road alongside their mother. This milestone signifies their growing confidence and curiosity about the world beyond their den, as well as an important step in their development into independent predators. Learning to Explore Lion cubs are born blind and highly dependent on their mother for nourishment and safety during their early months. As they grow, they begin to explore their surroundings under her watchful eye. The moment they walk on the road symbolizes their transition from the safety of the den to the broader environment of the savannah. It is an essential part of their learning process, as they observe their mother behavior and learn vital skills for survival, such as stalking, hunting, and social interaction. A Mother's Role The lioness plays a crucial role in guiding her cubs during this stage. She carefully supervises their movements...

The Compassionate Man and the Lost Lion Cub

Image
One bright morning, a kind-hearted man named Daniel was walking along a quiet country road. As he strolled, he noticed a small, distressed lion cub stranded near the edge of a muddy puddle. The tiny creature looked frightened and weak, clearly lost and confused. Despite knowing that lions are wild animals, Daniel's compassionate nature compelled him to help. Cautiously approaching the cub, Daniel saw it tremble and whimper. He remembered that sometimes animals get separated from their families, especially young ones, and need gentle care. Daniel knelt down slowly, extending a hand in a non-threatening gesture. To his surprise, the lion cub hesitated for a moment before nuzzling into his palm. This gentle act reassured Daniel that the animal was just scared and in need of help. Realizing that the cub couldn’t survive alone in the wild, Daniel decided to take action. He gently carried the cub in his arms, shielding it from nearby dangers. Carefully, he guided the lion back tow...

From Tiny Cub to Forest King: The Growth Journey of a Lion Cub

Image
The journey of a lion cub from its first day of life to becoming the majestic king of the forest is a remarkable story of growth, development, and survival. At just one day old, a lion cub is tiny, fragile, and entirely dependent on its mother for warmth, nourishment, and protection. Weighing only about 2 to 4 pounds, these newborns are born blind, with their eyes closed, and their vision begins to develop gradually over the first few weeks. During this early stage, they rely heavily on their mother's care and the safety of the den. As days turn into weeks, lion cubs start to grow rapidly. They begin pairing with their mother for short outings, exploring the den and learning vital survival skills through playful interactions with their littermates. Their fur becomes thicker, and their eyes open fully, unveiling their keen eyesight. Around the age of six weeks, they start to eat solid food, transitioning from milk to small prey, which plays a crucial role in strengthening t...

Surrounded by Her Triplets—Even Lion Moms Need a Break Sometimes

Image
In the golden savannas of Africa, where survival depends on strength, speed, and strategy, one of the most powerful and awe-inspiring sights is that of a lioness with her cubs. But as regal and resilient as she may appear, even a lion mom—especially one raising triplets—needs a moment to herself. The Demands of Motherhood in the Wild Motherhood is demanding in any species, but for lionesses, the stakes are high. After a pregnancy lasting about 110 days, a lioness typically gives birth to one to four cubs. Triplets are a handful—literally and figuratively. From the moment they're born, the lioness’s life revolves around feeding, protecting, and teaching her cubs. For the first six to eight weeks, she keeps them hidden in dense thickets, away from predators and even from the rest of the pride. During this time, she must hunt alone, return to nurse, and remain vigilant. Cub Chaos: Cute, Clingy, and Constantly Curious Lion cubs are undeniably adorabl...

A Bond Between Strength and Playfulness: A Walk with Leopard Mum Luluka and Her Cub

Image
On a warm afternoon in the heart of the savannah, the rhythm of nature hummed softly in the air. A young leopard cub, full of curiosity and energy, struggled to keep up with the graceful strides of her mother, Luluka. With every bound, the little one’s legs seemed just a little too short, and her tiny paws stirred up dust as she tried to match her mother’s pace. Luluka, the embodiment of patience and strength, moved with ease, her spotted coat blending seamlessly with the golden grasses around her. But as much as the cub was eager to keep up, she found the journey more challenging than expected. The landscape stretched far, and the shadows of the day grew longer. The cub’s tiny breaths grew more labored as she struggled to maintain her rhythm. Luluka, ever the attentive mother, slowed her pace to give the cub a moment to catch her breath. After all, a young leopard must learn the ways of the world in her own time. It’s a lesson in patience, in both nature and motherh...

Lioness Struggles to Save Cub After Overambitious Swimming Lesson at London Zoo

Image
In a captivating incident at London Zoo, a lioness demonstrated remarkable maternal instincts when she faced a challenging situation involving her cub. The event unfolded during an overambitious swimming lesson organized for the lioness and her cub, highlighting both the dedication of the animal’s mother and the unforeseen risks of enrichment activities. The zoo staff had arranged a swimming session as part of their enrichment program to stimulate the lioness and encourage natural behaviors. While the activity aimed to promote physical fitness and mental engagement, it unexpectedly turned risky when the cub, eager to participate, attempted to follow its mother into the water. The dense environment and the unfamiliar setting made it difficult for the young lion to navigate safely. As the cub struggled to keep afloat and reach its mother, the lioness displayed instinctive and protective behaviors. She immediately responded by trying to reach out and pull her cub...

Fishermen Race Boat Back To Shore After Making An Unexpected 'Catch'

Image
Earlier this month, Vanderlei Rabi and a few friends went fishing on a river in Brazil’s Pantanal wetlands. But it was on their way back to shore that they made their most memorable catch of all. In the water ahead of them, Rabi saw what he thought was a capybara. “I asked the one steering the boat to take us there to see,” Rabi told The Dodo. “When we got there, we realized it wasn’t a capybara.” Turns out, what they’d spotted was a young jaguar cub, struggling in the water all alone. Looking ahead to the nearest shore, Rabi spotted a mother jaguar exiting the water with other cubs in tow. Fearing that the struggling cub had been too weak to keep up with his family crossing the river, Rabi and his friends decided to help. Using one of their fishing nets, they scooped up the exhausted jaguar cub and gave him a lift to shore. Once on shore, the cub continued to cling to the net. Rabi and his friends moved away quickly, however, as to not scare away the cub's ...

A small, vulnerable baby lion can be seen calling out softly for his mother, his tiny voice echoing through the grasslands. This instinctive call reflects the deep reliance of the young cub on its mother for safety, nourishment, and guidance as it begins to explore its surroundings. Suddenly, the scene shifts as an older cousin, likely a slightly more experienced lion cub, approaches with playful curiosity. With gentle curiosity rather than hostility, the older cub ventures closer, seemingly ready to engage in play. This interaction highlights the social dynamics within lion prides, where older siblings and cousins often participate in bonding activities that are essential for learning survival skills and fostering social cohesion. Filmed in the iconic Masai Mara, one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife reserves, this moment...
