It happened during a flood rescue. The water had swallowed everything—streets, houses, even hope. And then, through the chaos, I saw him—standing alone, chest-deep in the freezing current. Our eyes met, and in that instant, time seemed to stop. He didn’t bark or growl. He just looked at me with eyes that pleaded, “Please... don’t leave me.” I crouched down and reached out slowly.
